Cute makeup tips to make you look amazing

Spectacles are not merely for better vision: the right frame can be a valuable accessory to
complete your look ...
Apart from doing vision tests and ensuring
patients' frames are comfortable and
complement their appearance, Mellins i-Style
optometrist, Meriek van den Berg regularly
advises on different eye make-up and
techniques for women who wear glasses.
Exceptionally farsighted women often wear plus-
power lenses and are aware of the eyes’
magnification behind their lenses.
Here are Meriek’s top six tips for farsighted
spectacle wearers:
Use dark, matt eyeshadows (brown, grey or
green hues) to help minimise the eyes’
appearance.
Stay away from glitter or shiny eye make-up
as this can be amplified by the lenses.
Apply eye shadow from the inner to the
outer corner of the eyelid without extending
it beyond the crease.
Use dark eyeliner/pencil on the edges of the
eyelid to help make eyes appear smaller.
Use mascara sparingly on top eyelashes and
little or none on the bottom lashes.
Be meticulous when applying make-up as
mistakes will be more obvious through
lenses.
Women who are nearsighted have the opposite
problem as their lenses minimise the
appearance of their eyes.
To help make the eyes look bigger, try these
five make-up tips:
Avoid dark, heavy eye make-up as this can
make the eyes appear smaller.
Choose lighter coloured eyeshadows with
some shimmer (rose, lavender, beige, light
grey or white) for a bigger and brighter
appearance.
When applying eyeshadow, use a lighter
colour on the inner corner of the eye with a
slightly darker tint in the middle of the
eyelid. While working from the middle
towards the outer corner, gradually darken
the colour.
Apply white eyeliner on the inner corner of
the eye. Alternatively, extend a bright
coloured eye pencil (such as grey or brown)
from the last third of the eye to the outer
corner.
Use lots of mascara to emphasise and
increase the size of the eyes.
